Lead Principal UX Designer (Design Systems)

We are looking for a highly experienced and visionary Principal Designer to drive our Design Systems initiative. As a Principal Designer, you will play a pivotal role in setting the design system strategy, driving consistency and efficiency in our product design, and ensuring a cohesive and user-centric experience across our portfolio of products, including digital advertising platform. If you are a seasoned design professional with a passion for creating and maintaining design systems, we encourage you to apply for this exciting role.What you'll do:· Develop and execute a comprehensive design system strategy that aligns with the company's design principles and business objectives. Define the roadmap for evolving and enhancing the design system.· Help the development and maintenance of a comprehensive component library, including design elements, patterns, and UI components, ensuring that they are easily accessible for design and development teams.· Establish and maintain design standards, guidelines, and best practices to drive consistency in UI and UX design across our products.· Become the team's authority on systems, setting the standard for our design system and how this is embedded in the Trade Desk's organization,· Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of designers, ensuring the continued growth and excellence of the design systems initiative.· Work closely with cross-functional teams, including UX designers, engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders, to implement and evangelize the design system throughout the organization, defining and promoting design standards, utilizing reusable components, across platforms and at scale.· Conduct regular design reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure that design system elements meet the highest standards of quality, usability, and accessibility.· Establish and maintain governance processes to manage design system updates, enhancements, and version control. Contribute to design systems onboarding and adoption goals.· Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and design system best practices. Drive innovation within the design system to improve design efficiency and the user experience.Who you are:· Bachelor's or master's degree in design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.· 8+ years of professional design experience, with a significant focus on design systems, have experience contributing to design systems within an organization or as part of an open-source project.· Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven track record of leading design system initiatives and mentoring designers.· Solid understanding of front-end development (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript), expertise in integrating and optimizing design systems within diverse tech stacks using UI frameworks and libraries,· Strong collaboration with development teams, understanding what it takes to ensure parity between design and code.· Proficiency in design and prototyping tools, specifically Figma.· Exceptional understanding of design principles, usability, and accessibility, with a strong attention to detail.· Experience working in Agile or Scrum development environments.· Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate and advocate for design system principles and guidelines.· Knowledge of the digital advertising industry is beneficial but not required.NY, CO, CA, and WA residents only:

In accordance with NY, CO, CA, and WA law, the range provided is The Trade Desk's reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year.

The base salary range for this role is$237,300—$296,600 USD
