Program Description:

The Communications and Marketing Department creates compelling content to elevate and position the Aspen Institute as a values-based organization that ignites human potential through dialogue, leadership, and action to build understanding and create new possibilities for a better world. The department also serves as an in-house agency that provides communications and marketing support to the Institute's 40+ programs, initiatives, public events, fundraising efforts, and the president's office. Basic Function:

The Brand Marketing and Design Associate is a one-year position that will help advance the brand of the Aspen Institute by both supporting high priority initiatives in leadership and piloting new projects in brand marketing. Specifically, this role will provide executional communications and design support to the Aspen Global Leadership Network, the Resnick Aspen Action Forum, and Weave: The Social Fabric Project and work closely with the Institute's Managing Director of Communications, Marketing, and Strategic Initiatives and Brand and Marketing Consultant on brand extension opportunities for the Aspen Institute store, Resnick Center for Herbert Bayer Studies, and the Aspen Meadows Resort. This role is vital in amplifying the Institute's impact, enhancing visibility, and fostering engagement with our mission.

This position reports to the Managing Director; dotted line to AGLN Sr. Comms Manager, key relationships with Content Strategy Director, and Brand Marketing Consultant. The salary for this position is $62,000. This position is in the Aspen Institute's Washington, D.C. office and is expected to work from the office at least 40% of the time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership Program Support (50%)

Overview: Provide executional communications and design support at programmatic level to the following: Aspen Global Leadership Network, Resnick Aspen Action Forum, and Weave: the Social Fabric Project

Aspen Global Leadership Network (35%)

Digital Production: Collaborate in content creation and production for AGLN and Resnick Aspen Action Forum website, social media channels, and digital channels.

Newsletter Production: Collaborate in production of e-mail communications, including monthly bulletin, Action Forum marketing emails, custom e-blasts, etc.

Event Design and Visual Identity: Collaborate with AGLN team to support brand development and design for gatherings including the Resnick Aspen Action Forum

Brand Management: Collaborate in stewarding the AGLN, Action Forum, and Fellowship brands by maintaining brand assets (logos, style guides, etc.) and content library.

Weave: The Social Fabric Project (10%)

Layout and Design: Collaborate with Weave in the production of collateral, social media. posts, and digital images (non-video).

Editorial Calendar Support: Support Weave's communication team in maintaining their editorial calendar by identifying ways to ensure timely production of necessary collateral.

Leadership Division Executive Office (5%)

Layout and Design: Produce division-level communications including board reports,drafts of external messages, and internal communications.

Enterprise Brand Marketing and Content Development (25%)

Overview: Provide executional and strategy development support on brand extension and marketing initiatives

Design and Production: Collaborate with Brand Marketing Consultant to create visually engaging assets, such as imagery, videos, and infographics, that align with brand messaging and enhance storytelling efforts on digital and social channels.

Marketing Communications: Assist in managing marketing communications such as newsletters, promotional emails, lead generation initiatives, and paid ads eCommerce: Assist in managing the Institute's e-commerce site, including product images, placement, and descriptions.

Storytelling: Craft compelling brand stories, in partnership with the Brand Marketing Consultant and Content Strategy Director, that resonate with target audiences. Develop narratives that highlight the unique features, values, and experiences offered by the Aspen Meadows, Bayer Museum, and our online store.

Editorial Calendar: In collaboration with Content Strategy Director and Brand Marketing Consultant, develop and maintain an editorial calendar to plan content creation and distribution for the Aspen Meadows, Bayer Museum, and our online store via Aspen Institute and partner channels.

Product Development: Collaborate with Brand Marketing Consultant and the Resnick Center for Herbert Bayer Studies team to co-create and promote exclusive merchandise for our e-commerce store.

Enterprise Communications Support (25%)

Overview: Provide content creation and production support to enterprise editorial strategy

Collaborate with enterprise content team (digital producers and content strategy director) to meet organizations goals; support the creation and curation of compelling content for the organization's main digital channels, including the website, social media, email newsletters, and other digital platforms.

Knowledge, Education, and Experience:

Has 3-6 years in communications-focused work

Has a bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, or a related field a plus.

Demonstrated experience creating content calendars and implementing strategies.

Strong writing/editing skills for concise and compelling online content.

Experience managing social media, including Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube; Experience using social CMS platforms such as Sprout a plus.

Experience interpreting and reporting analytics for reporting to team members and leadership.

Is proficient in multitasking and meeting deadlines.

Has an understanding of digital audiences and online content trends.

Has communication skills for teamwork and stakeholder collaboration.

Is up-to-date with digital trends, emerging formats, and social platforms.

Has a passion for storytelling, journalism, and cultural trends.
