Job Description Salary: $70,000-$80,000About Room to GrowRoom to Grow is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the vision that one day all parents will have the resources they need to unlock their families’ potential and become champions for babies and their community. Its mission is to offer structured parent support, material goods, and community connections to support parents as they activate their natural strengths and expand their knowledge, so children thrive from the start. Room to Grow was founded in New York in 1998 and expanded to Boston in 2005, currently partnering with over 1,500 families with an annual budget of $8.5M and a team of 50+ passionate and dedicated staff members.

Room to Grow uses a two-generation, preventative, and strengths-based approach to engage families. Through its unique program, parents and caregivers partner with program staff to develop strategies to support their child's development, select the material items that their child needs, and connect with community resources that can expand their support network. Room to Grow program staff work alongside parents and caregivers as they build upon their existing skill sets and parenting styles and promote the well-being of their children and family.

Position SummaryReporting to the Chief External Engagement Officer, the Manager of Communications will help create and implement communications strategies to advance the organization’s work and key priorities. Working in collaboration with the Communications team and stakeholders across the organization and externally, the manager will do this through compelling storytelling executed across our website, social media, email marketing, and printed content. The role requires a strategic and creative mind, the flexibility to work cross-functionally with teams, and the ability to build and deliver effective content strategies to expand brand awareness and broaden and cultivate audience engagement.

Position ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:Develop and implement strategic and effective communication strategies for key initiativesPlan, produce, and manage all content for Room to Grow and owned channels including, website, digital marketing, social media, and printed assetsIdentify storytelling opportunities and creative approaches to promote Room to Grow’s work and impact across platformsCreate innovative collateral to describe and support the organization’s work in a way that is compelling and relevant to priority audiencesHelp manage the website, including creating and publishing written content, images, and videos, executing design updates, and optimizing SEOOversee Room to Grow’s social media channels:

Create, coordinate, and manage social media content (copy creation, visual/video assets, scheduling) across social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, X)Monitor the health and growth of social media platforms (examine the performance of posts for specific campaigns or activations to assess successes and learnings)Manage community engagements across platforms (respond to DM’s, forward relevant inquiries to appropriate departments, etc.)

Create content and develop creative execution for Room to Grow emails (Constant Contact)Develop brand-appropriate collateral and content for external partnershipsMonitor and integrate relevant industry news and trends into contentDevelop and sustain productive cross-functional relationships within the organizationEngage with internal and external stakeholders to gather relevant content to use across channels

Qualifications and ExperienceA passion for the mission, vision, and core values of Room to GrowMinimum 5+ years experience in communications, marketing, journalism, brand management, public relations, or related fieldsExcellent written and oral communication skills and ability to create effective contentStrong attention to detail and proven copy editing skillsStrong understanding of digital marketing and trends; paid social strategies; and campaign managementProven creative and graphic design skills to create impactful digital and physical assetsAbility to adjust course as needed and thrive in a nimble, fast-paced, and flexible organizational cultureAction-oriented, proactive, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to workAbility to be onsite at Boston or New York Family Centers at least three (3) days a weekAbility to travel within the US (5-10%)Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement
