No matter what.”________________________________________Reporting directly to PPGP’s Chief Development Officer, the Director of Marketing& Communications will manage media, communications, and marketing strategies to promote PPGP as a leading provider of sexual and reproductive health. The role will supervise communications professionals including a digital media coordinator and graphic designer, and work most closely with PPGP’s Development, Heath Services, and Public Affairs Teams. The position’s key objectives are to develop communications and marketing concepts aimed at achieving fundraising goals, promoting health services and education work, and furthering advocacy initiatives across a four-state affiliate. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in communications and marketing within the nonprofit space.The Director of Communications and Marketing is responsible for overseeing the execution of PPGP’s media and marketing initiatives with an emphasis on increasing PPGP’s donor, patient, and supporter presence in the communities where its 14health

centers operate . The Director also assists the organization in administrative duties, guiding public affairs and development teams in best practices for optimal efficiency in email and social media campaigns.RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement communications and marketing strategies and messaging to educate and inform the community about PPGP’s mission, programs, and services.Serve as primary contact and spokesperson to inform and respond to media outlets across PPGP’s four-state region, bringing experience in rapid response and tight deadlines.Cultivate ongoing working relationships with reporters and news outlets for thoughtful coverage.Draft statements, press releases, op-eds, media advisories and letters to the editor as needed; edit and review external communications materials across departments.Create marketing campaigns and placement of advertising, and produce PPGP related organizational publications such as newsletters, annual reports, and fundraising collateral.Work closely with the Graphic Designer in creating effective marketing collateral, logos, and campaigns aligned with specific campaigns.Proactively prepare timely and accurate updates and talking points for both internal and external communications to address legislative issues related to PPGP’s brand, mission, programs, health services and clients.Maintain and update media lists and database of media relations contacts.Track and analyze communications trends to maintain optimal efficiency and end-user reach.Proactively identify opportunities to promote public awareness of PPGP and its mission, clients, education programs and health services (media coverage, social media, feature articles, interviews, presentations, special events, online presence, etc.).Distribute and house press clippings for tracking purposes and prepare monthly media reports including PPGP appearances, PPGP messaging usage by actors outside of PPGP, issue-related articles, and opposition media as needed.Coordinate any marketing or media-related campaigns, events, or training.Identify opportunities and conduct trainings for PPGP staff and volunteers to participate in public speaking engagements and media interviews.Assist with budget development for communications and marketing projects in consultation with the Chief Development Officer.Assist in the coordination of PPGP’s special events, and other conference opportunities offered through Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA).Manages a team of two to four employees.Evening and weekend work is occasionally required, as is occasional travel.REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university, five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Established relationships with media in the fields of sexual health care or related nonprofit work.Superb writing and editing skills, including the ability to carefully target messaging and quickly turn around materials.Demonstrated experience in creating impactful messages delivered in existing or new channels.Successful experience in challenging, controversial media campaigns and managing crisis communications and situations.Strong ability to advise senior staff on communications messaging and marketing initiatives. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with boards, staff, and volunteers to accomplish program goals.Understanding of reproductive health, sex education and related public affairs issues with the ability to distill complicated issues and research for messaging to multiple audiences.Technology experience: various email messaging platforms, Microsoft Office/Word, Access, and relational databases, and in social media strategy and tools including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, web page development and/or maintenance.COMPETENCIES
