As the Senior Audiovisual Project Engineer, you will report to the Manager of Audiovisual Design and Engineering serving on the team focused on designing and supporting enterprise-grade audiovisual solutions that serve GW’s academic mission. The AV Design and Collaboration Spaces team works collaboratively with all engineering and support entities and end-user groups across the university at large. This senior Individual Contributor position is the subject matter expert for AV technology to be used in GW’s learning and collaboration spaces and is responsible for providing state-of-the-art audiovisual and collaboration solutions.With enterprise-wide scope, the Sr. AV Project Engineer directly supports the Manager of Audiovisual Design and Engineering by overseeing the audiovisual design engineering team’s workflows and deliverables for project and operational responsibilities.Demonstrates ability to design and commission network based AVoIP and traditional AV systemsProvides subject matter expertise in the areas of audiovisual systems architecture and learning space design on new builds and refresh projects by serving as GW IT’s representative to various academic planning committees providing consultation on the GW Classroom Design StandardsPerforms project intake and consults with stakeholders and clients to identify requirements, perform needs analysis and translate into functional system designsDevelops project Scope of Work documents including functional system descriptions & block diagrams, engineering and architectural (Wall Elevations/ RCP /Floor Plan and Detail) drawings, power & heat calculations, and acoustical modeling that successfully communicate specifications and performance criteria necessary to build properly functioning systemsCreates and manages project schedules and coordinates appropriate resource scheduling for all relevant project tasks. Analyzes resource load and advises leadership on staffing impact. Analyzes project risks and proposes mitigation recommendations to upline management.Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves complex issues that are escalated by AV support teams. Capable of troubleshooting and resolving the most difficult and complicated AV issues and demonstrates working knowledge of basic networking fundamentalsDevelops and maintains equipment configuration templates & instructions and performs quality control on new installations or renovation work. Responsible for final commissioning and may perform configuration of devices in support of standardizing and enhancing GWU’s audiovisual infrastructureAnalyzes data and develops metrics by collecting and maintaining data from existing spaces to inform the continuous improvement needs of our environment. Key contributor to the development of GW IT’s annual Classroom Technology Refresh programKeeps up-to-date on technological advances, and identifies potential new solutions that will support and enhance multimodal teaching, learning, and collaboration in GWU’s spaces.Serves as a trusted partner with colleagues by fostering collaborative working relationships with internal IT teams and organizations at GW. Actively engages with architects, general contractors, integrators, and other tradespeople to ensure the successful delivery of technology in GW’s collaboration spaces.Mentors staff in supporting the current audiovisual infrastructure by substantial contribution to Incident and Problem Management exercises and through leadership roles on projects. Thoroughly reviews analysis of data to identify root causes

Minimum Qualifications:Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:Preferred Qualifications:Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts for people unfamiliar with those concepts while avoiding jargonDemonstrates track record of delivering large audiovisual projectsDemonstrates ability to use industry knowledge to solve problems in an innovative and creative wayDemonstrates ability to apply project management principles and to manage large projects and report project/task status and problems to upline managementExperience with creating detailed system engineering design drawings and specificationsExperience using the D-Tools System Integrator platform is desirableWorking competency in productivity suites such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Autodesk applications, MS Teams and Monday.com and cloud-based workflowsIndustry Certifications:
