The
Principal UX Designer
will work on Skillable's Product and Technology Group. This group encompasses a wide range of departments and areas within the company. From Platform, to Development, Product Management, and Data; the Product and Technology Group is lead by the best of the best. They are focused on building and delivering the best platforms and features for our customers and ensuring the stability and security of our systems.
The
Principal
UX Designer
is responsible for developing modern and innovative UX designs aimed at enabling customers to best leverage Skillable products in ways that result in better overall customer satisfaction and increased usage. Serve as a valued partner and ensure strong communications with customers, users, and internal team members to create design mockups that serve all stakeholders.
Responsibilities:Engage with customers and team members to better understand the challenges, wants, and needs of each Persona in terms of overall product/platform User Experience.Partner closely with core product managers, marketing, and client experience on conducting user research.Create human-centered designs and intuitive, functional, user interfaces while placing heavy value on patterns and reusable components.Create and maintain usability documentation.Proactively consider accessibility standards in every UX design.Invest time researching emerging patterns and Best Practices for UX Design.Lead process of scaling UX design and transitioning Skillable's product and engineering processes to a "UX Design first" methodology, driven by comprehensive mockups, prototyping, and collaborative hand-offsEnsure all members of your product team are aware of product discovery and prototyping in process and /or within a three-month timeframe.Work with the team to establish the most effective and efficient rhythm of product and UX design communication and follow-up with team members and customers.Proactively identify, document, and share recommendations for platform improvements; collaborate with Engineering and Product team members to understand and help shape the roadmap.Work with marketing to support in product messaging and brand.Proactively drive contracted designer relationships to best enable product teams.Assist product owners and engineering leads with scope and estimation for proposed solutions leading to accurate cost and timeline estimates.Participate in Scrum ceremonies for development teams, clarifying requirements, listening, and weighing alternative suggestions, and leading pivot opportunities.Engage with content services and operations to customize user interfaces to meet customer needs.Create and document customizations that can be reused and repurposed for customers with similar needs.Identify similarities in customer requests for growth areas to platform native customization support.Support and promote the company values through positive interactions with both internal and external partners and customers on a regular basis.Other strategic business initiatives or cross-functional project involvement as required.
Requirements
BS, BA or equivalent professional experience.10+ years working with customers to understand their challenges, and collaborating with architects, developers, database admins, and related peer groups to create and iterate on user experience designs.10+ years designing and building interactive prototypes and mockups3+ years creating component-based design systems for libraries like JQuery UI or React.Create and transpose sketches, wireframes, mock-ups into working code.Experience and understanding of Learning Management Systems (LMS), content creation, and/or content delivery systems highly desired.Ability and willingness to participate in multiple technical projects concurrently.Desire and ability to work at a fast pace.Desire to engage with customers/users as needed to perform UX research as neededStrong attention to detailAble to think independently to resolve complex system issues.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
